The camera's much stronger than the sword feat Motaz Azaiza

Aug 5, 2025 · 1:58

Summary

Motaz Azaiza tells Kareem that the camera is much stronger than a sword. It opened the world's eyes to what's happening to his people, though the achievements came through genocide and loss. The conversation shifts when Motaz mentions his size 15 feet. He spent 24 years trying to get boots in Gaza but couldn't find his size, and Israel banned military-style hiking boots anyway. When he finally got to the US, he bought 14 pairs of sneakers in one trip. Revenge shopping. Kareem calls it a guilty pleasure, and both agree Motaz can have as many as he wants.

So, what's your take? The camera is much stronger than a sword. The camera is the reason why I'm touring the world and meeting everyone, but in a very difficult way. It's like a good way that people know you for a good reason, but at the same time, there's a lot of achievements that you do, but you don't have the chance to celebrate it because it's a genocide. What's happening to my people? I'm losing my friends. I'm losing a lot of people. But the camera is much stronger than a sword. It changed my life. It uh it opened the world eyes through the camera.

100% agree.

What else are you thinking about? My feet so big.

100% agree. They're pretty damn big.

What size are those puppies? In the US? It's 15.

Size 15s are too big, bro. I got 13s. It's pretty easy for me to buy shoes. These are my boots. My new ones.

You just got boots? I spent 24 years of my life trying to get the boots in Gaza. I couldn't. First because nobody bring my size because no one not a lot of people wearing 15 there and also Israel ban it. They don't allow like hiking boots or things that looks like military boots. But I came here I got it three minutes.

They have a lot of 15s here. Yeah, there's a lot of big features.

So you spent 24 years looking for boots. Yeah. Whenever I go to a shopping in Gaza, he tell me, "Oh, you'll not find find your size here. Go to America." And if I want to get a shoes or a sneaker, I need to see someone who's coming from outside.

They got to sneak the boots in. Yeah. And I need to pay extra. So if it cost 300 shekels, 200 shekels, it cost me 700 800.

'Cuz there's contraband. Yeah. Last year when I got to the US, I bought 14 sneakers.

You bought 14 pairs of sneakers? Yeah. It's like a revenge, you know, from the world that I spent years of years suffering.

Yes.

You know what we call that? A guilty pleasure. Exactly. And you know what? I think you can have as many as you want.

Yeah. Amen.
