Men Should Never Be Allowed to Sit on the Subway

Jan 23, 2025 · 1:53

Summary

A woman aboard the train declares that men should never be allowed to sit on the subway. Kareem pushes back immediately since he's literally sitting down to film the episode, but she clarifies her stance: no man should sit while a woman or child is standing. She calls it "feminist reparations," a tradeoff where women don't need doors held or dinner paid for, but men absolutely must give up their seats. Kareem agrees in principle, especially for pregnant women and elderly riders, but worries about the able-bodied woman who might call him out for offering. Her response? He won't be sitting anyway. It's romantic, she insists. The debate turns chivalry into a matter of public transit justice, one subway seat at a time.

So what's your take? Never should a man be sitting on the subway.

100% disagree. Unfortunately, I'm sitting on the subway right now in order to do this show. I must sit on the subway. Therefore, I 100% disagree in this scenario with seats available. Please have a seat. Okay, but never in any circumstance should a woman or a child be standing when a man is sitting.

Okay, okay. I want to agree with you, but there are times where I need to sit. Why? I'm lazy. Because you're a man. I had a hard day's work. I got my groceries bag filled with Whole Foods. Have you ever been a pregnant woman standing on the subway?

I haven't by one. I have. I've done it with my shopping things. I've done it with my work bag. I've done it after a long day's work, and the fact that I have had to say—not only for myself but to represent for other women on the train—you need to get up. No, no. I 100% agree. I really, when I see a guy sitting down and a pregnant woman come on the train or an elderly person or a little boy that just got home from school—not a man—I'm like, "Dude, get up. You lazy loser. Lazy loser, get up." We're bringing chivalry back in like drips and drabs. So this is like, you've heard of reparations?

I heard reparations. So this is just like a feminist reparation of like, "I don't need you to hold the door for me. I don't actually need you to pay for dinner, but you need to stand up."

I agree with you, but if I give my seat up to an able-bodied woman and she tells me I'm an for not thinking that she can stand right, I'm going to say Cara Music told me I should do it. Point them towards you to answer those question. 100% agree. But also, that's not going to happen because you will—you will not be sitting 'cause it's romantic. You will already be standing, and it's kind of romantic here. You can have my seat.
