Halsey — Tragedy makes people funny
Summary
Halsey drops two memorable takes on Kareem's subway set: tragedy breeds comedy, and "the asshole is the window to the soul." The pop star opens up about getting seriously sick two years ago, an experience that shifted her entire perspective and gave her a darker sense of humor. She used to take herself really seriously. Not anymore. The conversation quickly spirals into hilariously unhinged territory when Halsey argues that doggy style is just as intimate as missionary, because you're literally staring at someone's "third eye." Kareem enthusiastically agrees, claiming his third eye stays wide open at all times. It's the kind of chaotic energy that makes SubwayTakes work.

So what's your take? My take is that tragedy makes people funny. 100% agree. The funniest people that I know have been through some of the most terrible suffering of anyone I've ever met. I used to take myself really seriously, and then two years ago I got really sick. And the thing that I got out of it was an incredible sense of comedy.
You're a funny woman. Yeah, one time when I was taking life too seriously, I had to go to the hospital. Oh my God, I was hospitalized for stress. Did they send you home for being a little bit? Do you have any other takes? Um, I don't think that hitting it from the back is less personal than missionary because you can't see my face, but you're staring at my—an asshole window to the soul. The—is the window to the soul.
Yes. The—is the window to the soul. Everybody knows that. They don't call it the third eye for no reason. And mine is—how is yours?
My third eye is wide open. It is? No, it's illegal on the subway.
No, mine's open. I always keep it open.
